Cloudburst in Kullu Raises Alarm; Hamirpur Administration Issues Alert for Sujanpur and Nadaun

Hamirpur, June 25: Deputy Commissioner Amarjeet Singh, who also heads the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), has issued an alert for low-lying areas along the Beas River in the Sujanpur and Nadaun subdivisions of Hamirpur district. The warning comes in the wake of multiple cloudbursts reported in the valleys of neighboring Kullu district, which have caused a significant rise in the water level of the Beas River.

The Deputy Commissioner has urged residents to stay away from the riverbanks, as water may be released from the Pandoh Dam at any time, potentially causing a sudden surge in the river’s flow through parts of Sujanpur and Nadaun.

He advised the public to avoid any activity near the river, including bathing, fishing, collecting wood, or grazing livestock. Residents were asked not to allow children near rivers or streams under any circumstances. Livestock should also be kept at a safe distance from the river.

People have been strongly encouraged to heed official advisories issued by the administration or the meteorological department and to move to higher ground immediately in case of any emergency.
