Una, 14 June:
Anuj Vashisth, a native of Saloh Ghalwal village in Haroli subdivision of Himachal Pradesh’s Una district, has brought pride to his family and region by being commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Indian Army. Anuj graduated from the prestigious Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, and has officially joined the Army as an officer.

Anuj’s father, Suresh Kumar, and mother, Sunita Nain, are both educators in the state’s Education Department. His sister, Geetanjali Vashisth, is a software engineer. According to the family, Anuj was inspired to join the Army by his late grandfather, Master Raja Ram, who instilled a sense of patriotism in him from an early age. Today, Anuj has fulfilled his grandfather’s long-held dream.

Anuj completed his early education at DAV Public School Una in 2018, followed by senior secondary schooling at SVM Senior Secondary School, Chowki Meenar in 2020. He briefly pursued a B.Tech at NIT Rourkela from March 2020 to September 2021. During this period, he successfully cleared the highly competitive UPSC NDA exam in his first attempt and was selected for the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Gaya, Bihar.

After four years of rigorous training across Bihar, Secunderabad, and finally Dehradun, Anuj passed out from IMA and earned his commission as a Lieutenant. He credits his success to his grandparents, parents, sister, teachers, and extended family. His achievement has sparked joy and pride throughout his village and the surrounding region.
