150 Women Perform Grand Nati at Shimla Summer Festival’s Second Cultural Evening

The second day of the Shimla Summer Festival 2025 blended rich cultural expression with a strong social message. One of the highlights of the evening was a Grand Nati performance—a traditional folk dance of Himachal—organized under the theme of “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” (Save the Girl Child, Educate the Girl Child).
Nearly 150 women, including Anganwadi workers from the Shimla Urban and Mashobra projects of the Women and Child Development Department, participated in the performance. Dressed in vibrant traditional attire, the women used the rhythm and grace of Himachali folk culture to convey a powerful message about the importance of daughters.
The heartfelt performance received an enthusiastic response from the audience, who applauded both its artistry and its intent. Organizers emphasized that the event was not just a cultural showcase, but also a platform to promote social awareness and women’s empowerment.
The evening also featured a Hasya Kavi Sammelan (comic poetry session), which turned out to be a major draw. Renowned poets from across the country entertained the crowd with their wit and satire. Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri attended as the chief guest, lending his support and appreciation to the performers and participants.
The Summer Festival Committee announced that in the coming days, Shimla’s streets and stages will continue to come alive with folk art, music, and dance—offering both entertainment and a reflection of socially relevant themes.
