Mandi, May 29:
The body of a woman who accidentally fell into the Beas River near Bhuntar while cutting grass on May 18 has been recovered from Pandoh Dam. Personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) stationed at the dam spotted the body floating in the water and immediately informed the Pandoh Police Outpost.
A team from the Pandoh Police Outpost and Mandi Sadar Police Station, along with SDRF personnel, reached the site and retrieved the body. It was then sent to Zonal Hospital Mandi for post-mortem and identification. Nearby police stations were also alerted.
Bhuntar Police later confirmed that a woman had fallen into the river on May 18. Based on this information, her family was called to the hospital for identification. The deceased was identified by her son, Ravindra Singh, as 55-year-old Meera Devi, wife of the late Ludar Chand, a resident of Tharas village, Hurla Post Office, Bhuntar Tehsil, Kullu district.
The family had lodged a missing report at Bhuntar Police Station following the incident. Mandi SP Sakshi Verma confirmed the recovery and identification, stating that the body has been handed over to the family after the post-mortem.
