Shimla, May 8 – The Himachal Pradesh government has announced a revision in fares for stage carriage bus services operating within the state. As per the notification issued by the Transport Department, the new rates come into effect immediately and will serve as the maximum allowable fares, inclusive of all applicable taxes.
Under the revised fare structure:
-
For ordinary bus services (including mini buses), the fare per passenger per kilometer is now:
-
₹1.60 in plains
-
₹2.50 in hilly areas
-
For deluxe bus services:
-
For AC/super luxury buses:
The government clarified that these rates apply only to regular stage carriage buses and do not cover long-distance special services.
According to the department, the fare hike represents an average increase of around 15%, aimed at offsetting rising costs associated with fuel, vehicle maintenance, and inflation. Officials added that any future revisions in fare structures will be based on inflation trends and operational needs, subject to final approval by the minister in charge.
The notification was issued by the Additional Chief Secretary (Transport), Government of Himachal Pradesh. Notably, this follows a recent adjustment in minimum fare slabs as part of broader transport reforms.
