Shimla, May 8 – On the eve of World Red Cross Day, members and office-bearers of the Himachal Pradesh State Red Cross Society and the Red Cross Hospital Welfare Section gathered at Raj Bhavan to mark the occasion by pinning the Red Cross flag on Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, who also serves as President of the State Red Cross Society, and Lady Governor Janaki Shukla, Chairperson of the Hospital Welfare Section.

This year’s theme, “Keeping Humanity Alive,” underscores the importance of compassion and humanitarian aid, emphasizing that extending help to the needy and suffering is both a social responsibility and a reflection of human empathy.

Governor Shukla praised the Red Cross for its humanitarian service across the globe, calling it a “beacon of hope for those in distress.” He expressed confidence that the organization would continue to work with the same spirit of service and dedication, remaining a source of inspiration for society.

The event was attended by C.P. Verma, Secretary to the Governor and General Secretary of the State Red Cross Society, along with members of the Red Cross, the Hospital Welfare Section, and staff from Raj Bhavan.
