Solan, May 4: In line with standing instructions issued by Himachal Pradesh Police Headquarters, Baddi Police have carried out the scientific and safe disposal of narcotic substances seized under the NDPS Act. The objective behind this move is to ensure that confiscated drugs are destroyed in a transparent, lawful, and environmentally responsible manner.

The narcotics—seized in various cases registered at police stations in Baddi, Barotiwala, Nalagarh, and Ramshahr—were destroyed after approval from designated Drug Disposal Committees. The destruction process was carried out at the boiler/incinerator facility of Vardhman Textile Ltd., located in Bhatauli Kalan, Baddi tehsil, Solan district, where the substances were incinerated using approved scientific methods.

Abhishek Thakur, Junior Environmental Engineer from the Baddi office of the State Pollution Control Board, was present to ensure that the disposal process complied with environmental regulations and did not cause any pollution. Prior to disposal, relevant case files, court orders, and “no appeal” reports from the prosecution were submitted before the Drug Disposal Committee. Each parcel containing narcotics was opened, physically examined, weighed, and verified before being destroyed.

The narcotics destroyed included 473 opium plants, 24.245 grams of heroin, 97 kilograms of poppy husk, 609 grams of cannabis, and 740 grams of charas (hashish).

This action by Baddi Police underscores their zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics and highlights their commitment to maintaining transparency in judicial procedures. Measures like these reflect the seriousness with which law enforcement is tackling the menace of drug trafficking.
