Report by Kumud Sharma: Paudia Panchayat, which comes under subdivision Chaupal in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh, has set a great example by creating a beautiful park for tourists from about 6 quintals of plastic waste, which has not only increased the revenue of the Panchayat but has also found a way to dispose of plastic waste for environmental protection.

From the walls of the beautiful park to the swings made for children, everything has been made entirely from plastic waste and colorful paints have also been applied on this plastic waste, which is making the beauty of this park feel different.

Plastic waste is the waste coming from homes which was thrown as garbage by Paudia Panchayat and the neighboring Panchayats and the amount of plastic waste had become so much that despite appealing to the Municipal Corporation Shimla several times by the Panchayat Pradhan, it was not being lifted due to which the children of Paudia Panchayat could fall under the shadow of various diseases but all the members of the village then thought of collecting all the 6 quintals of plastic waste and making a wonderful park out of it, and after 6 days of hard work, this wonderful park has now emerged as a source of inspiration not only for tourists but also for all the nearby Panchayats.

A great initiative

After the construction of this wonderful park, not only will awareness increase among people about environmental conservation and plastic waste, but the number of tourists visiting Shimla and Kufri from the country and abroad will also increase.

At present, the Panchayat is not charging any fee for entering the park, but as soon as lights and food carts are installed in the park, a nominal fee of Rs 5 to Rs 25 will be charged from the people visiting the park as an increase in Panchayat revenue.

This wonderful park made of plastic waste by Paudia Panchayat will not only give the tourists visiting the capital Shimla a feeling of natural conservation, but people and especially small children will also learn a lot from the unique initiative of this park.
