Dharamshala, April 24 – In preparation for the upcoming IPL match at the Dharamshala Cricket Stadium, comprehensive measures are being put in place to ensure effective crowd management and emergency response. A one-day training session will be conducted on April 26 for HPCA staff and personnel on duty near the stadium. This will be followed by a mock exercise within the stadium to test preparedness for any disaster scenario.

The information was shared by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Shilpi Bekta, who chaired a meeting on Thursday to review HPCA’s disaster management plan for the stadium.

During the meeting, she directed all relevant departments to complete necessary preparations well in advance. The police department has been instructed to ensure robust law enforcement and security arrangements for the international-level match. She also emphasized the importance of organizing designated parking areas with clear numbering and directional signage to facilitate smoother public movement.

To further streamline logistics, ADC Bekta instructed that directional signs be installed from the exit gates to the designated parking spots, making it easier for spectators to navigate the premises.

The fire department has been directed to thoroughly inspect fire safety infrastructure at the stadium and ensure all required fire-fighting services are in place. Additionally, the Chief Medical Officer has been asked to ensure the availability of dedicated hospital wards and medical staff during the event.

Emergency response will also be bolstered with the deployment of a fully-equipped ambulance at the stadium for the duration of the match.

The meeting was attended by HPCA General Manager (Administration), Retired Colonel H.S. Minhas, along with officials from the police, home guards, education, and health departments.
