New Delhi, April 24 – In the wake of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, the Government of India has responded with firm and immediate action. An emergency meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) was convened, during which critical discussions were held on internal security and diplomatic strategy. Following the meeting, India announced a series of tough measures that have sent shockwaves through Pakistan’s political and military establishments.

In a swift and dramatic reaction, Pakistan has closed its airspace to Indian carriers and immediately shut down the Wagah border, halting all cross-border movement. In a move laden with geopolitical implications, Pakistan has also suspended the 1972 Simla Agreement along with all bilateral treaties with India.

The decision came after a meeting of Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC) in Islamabad, which was followed by an official statement declaring the termination of all trade ties with India. Furthermore, all visas issued to Indian nationals under the SAARC visa exemption scheme have been revoked, effectively freezing civil exchanges and regional cooperation between the two nations.

Reacting sharply to India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, Pakistan has labeled the move an act of aggression and described it as an attack on the lifeline of over 240 million Pakistani citizens. The Pakistani government has condemned the decision, terming it a violation of international treaties, and warned that any threat to its sovereignty and security would be met with “firm and comprehensive” countermeasures across all fronts.

While Pakistan claims to denounce terrorism, it has simultaneously issued a stern warning, asserting that its armed forces are fully capable and prepared to respond to any provocation. The tone of the statement signals a hardening stance in Islamabad amid escalating tensions.

Additionally, Pakistan has ordered Indian military attachés at the High Commission to leave the country by April 30, further escalating the diplomatic standoff between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
