Shimla, April 20: In a heartfelt tribute to the life and legacy of Sister Seema Saraswati, who passed away in a tragic bus accident last year, Umang Foundation organized a blood donation camp in Mashobra on her first death anniversary. Known for her unwavering dedication as a nurse at IGMC Hospital, Seema Saraswati’s spirit of service continues to inspire, as 54 individuals voluntarily donated blood in her memory.
The event was inaugurated by Jyoti Walia, Executive Member of the Indian Nursing Council and Vice President of the Trained Nurses Association of India (Northern Region). The program was presided over by Muskan Negi, Youth Icon of the Election Commission of India and a visually impaired Assistant Professor, who called blood donation “the greatest virtue.”
A Tribute That Saves Lives
Camp Coordinator Vinod Yogacharya and Umang Foundation President Prof. Ajay Srivastava shared that the initiative was aimed at not only keeping Sister Seema’s memory alive but also instilling the values of compassion and service in society.
“Seema Saraswati touched countless lives through her work. This camp is a reflection of her enduring impact,” said Jyoti Walia.
The emotional tribute saw active participation from both medical professionals and members of the public. Seema’s father Dharampal Saraswati and brother Sanjay Saraswati thanked the Foundation and all donors for honoring her in such a meaningful way.
Women Lead the Way in Compassion
The camp saw remarkable participation from women, with several stepping forward to donate blood. Notable among the donors were Municipal Councilor Vishakha Modi, Anita Sharma, Monica Sood, Hina Modi, Nidhi Verma, Shivani Sood, Reena Thakur, Vandana Saraswati, and Rupa.
The blood collection was managed by IGMC Blood Bank under the supervision of Dr. Savi Dhauta, ensuring smooth and hygienic procedures. Medical professionals including Dr. Usha Thakur, Dr. Poonam Negi, Mukesh Kumar, Satish Tomar, Lalit Sharma, Shivani Atri, Neha Chauhan, and Amit Atri played key roles in organizing and supporting the event.
Community Joins Hands
Support for the event also came from local institutions like the Sanatan Dharma Sabha and Vyapar Mandal of Mashobra, who provided logistical and moral backing for the successful conduct of the camp.
