“Congress Government Fears the Truth, Now Threatening Public Representatives”: Rakesh Jamwal
Shimla, April 16 – Bharatiya Janata Party’s Chief Spokesperson and Sundernagar MLA Rakesh Jamwal has launched a scathing attack on the Congress-led Himachal Pradesh government, alleging that it is threatening opposition leaders to suppress the truth. Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Jamwal claimed that the government is using intimidation tactics, including threats of legal action and breach of privilege motions, against elected representatives who question its functioning.
He also raised serious concerns over the suspicious death of Vimal Negi, a senior and reportedly honest officer, calling it a “mirror of a rotten system” that punishes integrity. “Even officers are not safe in this regime. What message does that send?” Jamwal questioned.
Calls for CBI Probe Intensify
Jamwal alleged that the state government is deliberately avoiding a CBI probe into Negi’s death, despite his family’s demand for an independent investigation. “If the government is clean, why is it afraid of a CBI inquiry? What is it trying to hide?” he asked.
He pointed to delays in releasing the post-mortem report and questioned why officials accused of harassing Negi are still not behind bars. “The High Court itself has noted the gravity of the situation. Yet the government remains silent,” he said.
Allegations of Authoritarian Behavior
Rakesh Jamwal also criticized Minister Anirudh Singh’s recent remarks in the Assembly, accusing him of labeling opposition MLAs as conspirators. “This is not democracy; this is dictatorship,” he said. “This government wants to decide who should speak and what they should say.”
He accused the Congress government of double standards – promoting transparency in public forums while silencing dissent behind closed doors. “The arrogance of power and insensitivity towards the death of an honest officer has now been exposed before the public,” Jamwal added.
BJP’s Warning: Will Take the Fight to the Streets
The BJP, he said, will not back down. “This is not just about one death. It’s a fight to safeguard the dignity of honest officers and restore public trust in the system. From the streets to the Assembly, we will fight until justice is delivered,” Jamwal declared.
He concluded by urging the Congress government to approve a CBI probe immediately if it has nothing to hide, stating that continued resistance would only fuel suspicions of a larger political conspiracy.
