Colorful cultural performances mark 78th Foundation Day; Minister reiterates state’s commitment to self-reliance by 2027
Shimla, April 15 – On the occasion of Himachal Pradesh’s 78th Foundation Day, a grand celebration was held at the iconic Ridge Maidan in Shimla, with Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh as the chief guest. The minister hoisted the national flag and took salute from the contingents during the grand march past, marking the state-level celebration in a vibrant and patriotic atmosphere.
The event showcased cultural performances from across Himachal, offering a vivid glimpse into the region’s rich traditions and heritage. The Ridge echoed with patriotic songs and folk rhythms, attracting a large number of citizens and tourists.
Himachal’s Progress Lauded on Foundation Day
Addressing the gathering, Minister Anirudh Singh lauded Himachal Pradesh’s journey since its formation on April 15, 1948, from a Chief Commissioner’s Province to one of the leading progressive states in India. “Himachal is today a model for many states. In areas like education, tourism, horticulture, agriculture, transport and energy, the state has outperformed larger states,” he said.
He emphasized that Himachal’s apples are now enjoyed globally, symbolizing the state’s success in horticulture and export quality.
Singh also paid tribute to the freedom fighters and brave soldiers of the state, calling Himachal Veerbhoomi (land of the brave). Remembering Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar, he credited the visionary leader for laying the foundation of a strong Himachal.
Development Vision: 2027 & 2032 Goals
Aniruddh Singh reaffirmed the government’s commitment to making Himachal self-reliant by 2027 and prosperous by 2032, underlining steps being taken to strengthen the economy and fulfill public expectations. He highlighted that the Congress government has delivered on six of its ten guarantees in the first two years and assured that the remaining four would be fulfilled soon.
Minister Warns Against Politicizing Vimal Negi Case
In a post-event interaction with media, the Minister addressed the controversy surrounding the death of Vimal Negi, cautioning the opposition against politicizing the sensitive issue. Singh clarified that Negi had himself requested the appointment in question, and that the government is conducting a fair investigation.
“The opposition is sensationalizing the matter for political mileage. We will file a privilege motion and pursue legal action against those spreading misinformation,” Singh said. He also urged the BJP to approach the Home Minister and seek a CBI probe, reiterating that the state government has placed no restrictions on any investigation.
