Sanika, Dikshita
Rohru, April 10 – In a proud moment for Himachal Pradesh and the entire country, two young girls from Rohru have made their mark on the international stage at the 1st Thailand Kickboxing World Cup held in Bangkok from April 7 to 13, 2025. Competing against participants from 68 countries, Dikshita Chauhan and Sanika brought home silver and bronze medals, respectively.
Dikshita created history by clinching silver in the K1 category, widely considered the toughest form of kickboxing. Her journey to this achievement has been nothing short of inspiring. After losing her father in 2021, Dikshita—the youngest of four sisters—continued to pursue her passion against all odds. Her mother, who shouldered the family’s responsibilities alone, stood firmly by her side.
Sanika’s victory is equally remarkable. Just eight months ago, she underwent ACL ligament surgery, a career-threatening injury for any athlete. Yet, with unwavering determination and months of grueling recovery, Sanika returned stronger to secure bronze in the full contact category.
A Proud Moment for Rohru and India
Both athletes were selected to represent Team India at the World Cup, showcasing their grit, talent, and patriotism. Dikshita credited her success to her mother, coach Virendra Jagihta, and Parashuram Awardee Dr. Sanjay Yadav, who guided her through the toughest phases of her journey.
Back home, Rohru is celebrating this remarkable feat. Schools, local residents, and sports lovers have poured out their appreciation and joy. The success of Dikshita and Sanika is being seen as a powerful message of resilience, dedication, and the spirit of Indian daughters.
These young champions have proved that no dream is too big and no challenge too tough when backed by hard work, courage, and belief.
