Solan, April 10 – In a major breakthrough, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Solan Police arrested two habitual offenders from Arki for smuggling chitta (heroin) under the Darlaghat police station limits. Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a white Swift car (HP-64B-0642) near Bhararighat and seized over 9 grams of chitta from the vehicle.

The accused, Mukesh Verma (36) and Hitendra (27), both residents of Bhararighat in Tehsil Arki, were caught red-handed during routine crime prevention and patrolling operations. Police swiftly set up a roadblock after receiving intelligence inputs and successfully apprehended the duo.

Further investigation revealed a criminal history linked to both individuals. Mukesh Verma is involved in a past vehicle accident case in Dadlaghat, while Hitendra has been previously booked for possessing 220 grams of opium and 355 grams of hashish in Banjar, Kullu, along with 6 grams of chitta in Bilaspur.

Following their arrest, the accused were presented in court and sent to 5-day police remand, after which they are now in judicial custody. The seized vehicle has also been impounded.
