Mandi, 03 April: Bollywood actress and BJP Member of Parliament (MP) from Mandi, Kangana Ranaut, has finally formed the much-anticipated ‘Disha Committee’ after an 11-month delay following her election. The committee’s formation was officially announced by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Mandi through a notification on March 26, 2025. The delay in establishing the committee has raised questions, as MPs typically prioritize the formation of such committees shortly after taking office.
The Disha Committee plays a critical role in reviewing and guiding the development work in the constituency, particularly with regard to budget allocations from the central government. It also provides essential guidelines for government officials regarding the execution of these projects. However, in Kangana Ranaut’s case, the formation of this committee took far longer than expected, leading to speculation about her familiarity with the processes involved.
Kangana Ranaut has been appointed as the chairman of the Disha Committee, with BJP MP from Hamirpur, Anurag Thakur, included as a special invitee. The committee also consists of several elected MLAs and other public representatives from the Mandi parliamentary constituency, who were nominated after much delay.
Delays in Nominations Lead to Committee Hold-Up
The delay in the formation of the committee was primarily due to a hold-up in deciding the names of the nominated members. The administration was unable to move forward with the committee’s formation until these names were finalized. Sources within the BJP party suggest that the nominations took longer than expected, leading to the prolonged delay. Among the members nominated are Rajni Thakur, Monica Kumari, Roshan Lal, Pratap Thakur, Kedar Nath, Krishna Chand, and Atma Ram. Additionally, Himanshu Sharma, the State Coordinator for actor Salman Khan’s Being Human organization, has also been appointed as a member.
Uncertainty Around First Meeting
Despite the formation of the committee, the date for its first meeting remains uncertain. According to party sources, MP Kangana Ranaut herself has not provided any details about when the meeting will be held. This uncertainty has raised further questions about the MP’s engagement with her constituency and her commitment to her role. The first meeting of the Disha Committee is expected to provide an overview of the MP’s actions and progress in the Mandi constituency over the past year.
