Shimla, March 31: In a significant development aimed at strengthening the health services in Himachal Pradesh, the state government has issued a notification to restructure the recruitment process for the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) and Directorate of Health Services (DHS). A spokesperson from the Health Department made the announcement today, detailing that this decision will separate the cadre of employees between these two key directorates.

The move is being hailed as an essential step to further improve the efficiency and quality of healthcare services across the state. As part of this restructuring, employees across various sectors, including nursing, paramedical staff, radiographers, operation theater assistants, drivers, and fourth-class employees, were given the opportunity to choose their preferred cadre. An overwhelming 74.44 percent of these employees have opted for DHS, reflecting their preference for the Directorate of Health Services over the Directorate of Medical Education.

According to the finalized cadre structure, a total of 14,573 employees have chosen to join the DHS, while 5,002 employees have opted for the DME. This change will now lead to the introduction of separate recruitment processes for both directorates, ensuring that the number of employees in each department is balanced and aligned with the requirements of the health services sector.

The spokesperson emphasized that this decision is in line with the state government’s ongoing efforts to enhance health services, a vision spearheaded by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu. The CM’s leadership has already seen numerous initiatives aimed at upgrading health infrastructure and services in Himachal Pradesh.

In the past two years, the state government has been proactive in bringing significant improvements to the healthcare sector. Among these initiatives, the replacement of outdated medical equipment in various health institutions with state-of-the-art technology is a major focus. This modernization will ensure that residents of the state have access to more advanced medical facilities, enabling them to receive better care and treatment.

The restructuring also reflects the state’s commitment to providing accessible and high-quality medical services to all citizens. The Health Department has assured that these changes will not only streamline operations but also help create a more efficient workforce capable of meeting the growing healthcare demands of the state.

As part of the government’s broader healthcare reforms, additional measures are expected in the coming months to further strengthen health facilities, including expanding healthcare staff, improving medical infrastructure, and enhancing patient care. The new recruitment process will play a crucial role in these efforts by ensuring that the right personnel are in place to deliver improved healthcare services.

The move to separate the cadres of DME and DHS is expected to improve the operational efficiency of both directorates, offering clear roles and responsibilities for employees, which will directly benefit the health services across the state. With these reforms, the Himachal Pradesh government aims to bolster its healthcare system to meet the needs of a growing population while ensuring that the delivery of medical services is both efficient and effective.

As the state government continues to implement reforms in the healthcare sector, residents of Himachal Pradesh can expect more upgrades in their healthcare facilities, leading to better medical outcomes in the years to come. The decision to change the recruitment process for the two directorates marks an important step in realizing these long-term goals.
