Shimla, March 27: Himachal Pradesh Central University (HPU) hosted a thought-provoking seminar on the “National Education Policy and Indian Knowledge System” at its Dhauladhar Campus-1. Organized by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), the event provided a platform for academicians to present their views on the significance of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and its integration with India’s rich educational heritage.

The seminar began with a warm welcome by Dr. Archana Katoch, Dean of the School of Journalism, Mass Communication, and New Media. She expressed her gratitude to the keynote speaker, Prof. Pradeep Kumar, Dean of Academic Affairs, and the chief guest, Prof. Mohinder Singh, Director of IQAC, for their presence and valuable contributions.

Prof. Pradeep Kumar, the keynote speaker, delivered an insightful lecture on the role of the National Education Policy in shaping the future of education in India. He emphasized the need for a multidisciplinary approach in education and discussed how NEP 2020 aims to integrate India’s traditional knowledge systems with modern educational practices. He highlighted the importance of incorporating the country’s rich cultural and intellectual heritage into contemporary teaching methods to make education more relevant and holistic.

Following Prof. Kumar’s address, Dr. Mohinder Singh, Director of IQAC, elaborated on the practical strategies for implementing the NEP across educational institutions. He stressed the importance of quality assurance and how institutions can ensure academic excellence while embracing India’s traditional knowledge. Dr. Singh underlined the significance of fostering an education system that is globally competitive yet rooted in Indian values and traditions.

Dr. Archana Katoch discussed the role of media in disseminating information about the NEP and its potential to reshape India’s educational landscape. She highlighted the influence of digital platforms and mass communication in raising awareness about educational reforms. She also stressed the role of media in preserving and promoting India’s intellectual traditions through modern channels.

The seminar concluded with an interactive session, where faculty members, researchers, and students engaged in a dynamic discussion about the practical aspects of the NEP. Participants shared ideas on how traditional knowledge can be seamlessly integrated into modern curriculums, ensuring a well-rounded education for future generations.

Prof. Aditya Kant, the seminar coordinator, played a key role in organizing and executing the event. He ensured that the seminar ran smoothly and facilitated meaningful discussions among the attendees. The seminar was also attended by faculty members Dr. Harsh Mishra, Harikrishnan B, and Dr. Monica, who contributed their insights and perspectives.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Harsh Mishra, who presented the vote of thanks, expressed his sincere gratitude to the speakers, organizers, and participants for their invaluable contributions. He emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between academia, media, and government to ensure that the National Education Policy’s goals are effectively realized.
