International Women’s Day: Mandi’s Kajal Rai Sadana Becomes Lieutenant

Mandi, March 8, 2025: Born and raised in Chhoti Kashi Mandi, Kajal Rai Sadana has made her father dreams come true when she cleared the exams of lieutenant in Indian Army. Kajal’s achievement was celebrated during the passing-out parade, which was held from the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai, on the occasion of International Women’s Day. This achievement has brought humongous pride not just to Kajal and her family but also the whole state of Himachal Pradesh.
It was not an easy journey for Kajal to become an officer. She pursued LLM (Law) after 12th grade and then felt an urge to serve the nation by joining the Indian Army. She had her first failure in the SSB exam but did not lose hope. She then took the exam two more times and on her third attempt passed not only the exam but also topped her country getting first position.
Her commitment to her goal was clear during her year-long intense training at the OTA. Even in these adverse conditions and trying times in training, Kajal never lost sight of her goal. On March 08, during the parade, Kajal was deployed as a Lieutenant in the Indian Army, a remarkable moment for Kajal and her family.
Kajal’s parents Bhupendra and Anjana Sadana and younger brother Ashutosh Sadana were present to celebrate the moment. The family took immense pride in Kajal’s dedication and diligence. The new trailer showcases the deep bond between parents and their children as they attribute the daughter’s success not only to her hard work but also to their blessings from Baba Balak Nath Deotsidh, whose spiritual guidance they think played a major role in the journey.
Kajal, whose journey resembles that of a phoenix rising from the ashes, is a true example of grit and perseverance. Its an inspiration to young women across the nation who want to serve in the armed forces. Kajal’s success also makes it a moment to rejoice for all those women who are paving the way for future women to break barriers in the traditionally male-dominated field of the military.
