Shimla, March 02: Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today launched CM Dashboard, a first-of-its-kind platform designed and developed by the Digital Technology and Governance Department in Himachal Pradesh, to strengthen transparency, accountability and governance in the state. The dashboard will track 66 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across 8 key departments in the state, helping monitor key progress and performance metrics.

The CM Dashboard is a significant step to bring transparency in the administration of the state and ensuring that the welfare of the people are run with real-time data analytics. The dashboard also incorporates Key Performance Indicators from departments like Rural Development, Public Works, Jal Shakti, Revenue, Women and Child Development, Education, Tribal Development, and Health among others, which would especially cater to the dashboard’s intent of encompassing an end-to-end view of the state’s ongoing development activities and the status of various welfare schemes.

A tactical move to speed up the development

Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, in his address, laid stress on accuracy and timely availability of data for the success of various government schemes. The dashboard covers KPIs from numerous departments, including 8 KPIs from the Rural Development Department, 8 from the Public Works Department, 6 from the Jal Shakti Department, 7 from the Revenue Department, 4 from the Women and Child Development Department, 10 from the Education Department, 5 from the Tribal Development Department, and a whopping 18 KPIs from the Health Department.

The Chief Minister said that this initiative will also facilitate acceleration towards development pace and will help ensure that welfare schemes reach the targeted beneficiaries in the state. “With this dashboard, we will also be able to monitor and track the progress of all major schemes in real time and make informed decisions for the betterment of our people,” he added.

Data-Driven Decision Making

This will be an end to end platform where various Government departments will put accurate data on each issue and the Chief Minister and his team will be able to take data driven decisions. Sukhu said it is important for the Departments to provide accurate and latest information which would help in taking proper decisions that have direct bearing on the welfare of the people of Himachal Pradesh.

The Chief Minister further stated that he would regularly review the implementations of several welfare schemes through the dashboard himself. The hands-on approach is expected to boost efficiency, reduce admin tasks, and make sure that time-sensitive issues are handled promptly.

Open Government and Accountability

The CM Dashboard’s one of the great benefits is to help transparency and accountability in governance. By converting existing data from disparate department databases into a single digital platform, the chances of making mistakes and discrepancies are mitigated. It also enables the public to track the status of government projects and welfare programs, leading to greater public faith in the administration.

“The CM Dashboard will prove to be a game changer for the state as far as transparency is concerned. It is going to bring more accountability and efficiency in the functioning of the government to ensure that our policies and schemes are being implemented as envisaged,” Chief Minister Sukhu said.

Sukhu also pointed that this technological revolution would relieve officials of administrative pressure, and they would not have to spend time in collecting information manually and filling reports but would rather focus on strategic work. The government has also devised the foundation for faster and more accurate decision-making by automating and centralizing the data.

Expansion Plans & Inclusivity

Starting with 66 KPIs covering eight key departments, the CM Dashboard will also expand further. Chief Minister said in the future, all government departments would be covered under CM Dashboard, while the number of KPIs would also be enhanced to cover more services. Moreover, the boards and corporations will also be brought into the fold, turning it into a holistic mechanism for tracking how the state governs.

This addition will ensure the effective administration of more services and allow more citizens to access the state’s development initiatives. Chief Minister said that the state will use modern technology as an important tool to deal with challenges that will arise in future governance and public service delivery.

“We are constantly upgrading our welfare schemes to reach directly to every beneficiary and technology is an integral part of this transformation. This is only the start; the CM Dashboard. Sukhu said, “We will keep innovating and improving the system to serve the people of Himachal Pradesh in a better way.”
