Shimla, February 14: Police arrested a youth with 4.066 kg of hashish in Jokhar under Kupvi police station area of ​​Chaupal subdivision of Shimla district.

This action was taken by the team of Special Cell Shimla on the basis of secret information late Thursday night.

The accused has been identified as Jaipal (33) son Jagmohan Chauhan, resident of village Bhanal, Post Office Bhalu, Tehsil Kupvi, District Shimla.

According to the information received from the police, the team of Special Cell was on patrol in Sarai Tehsil Chaupal. During this time they received information from a secret source that a person was carrying hashish in a bag on his back.

On receiving the information, the team immediately reached Jokhar Tehsil Kupvi and stopped the suspicious person. On searching, 4.066 kg of hashish was recovered from his bag.

Accused Jaipal was arrested on the spot and a case has been registered against him under Section 20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Kupvi police station.

According to the police, the special cell team is continuously patrolling to stop the drug trade in the Chaupal area and action is being taken on the basis of secret information.

The police is also investigating where the accused brought the hashish from and where he was going to supply it.

DSP Chaupal Sushant Sharma said that strict action will continue under the campaign being run against drugs.

He also appealed to the youth to stay away from drugs and cooperate in making the society drug-free.
