One death ensued after a fall in Sichuan Province, China

One death and several displaced persons resulted from a major earthquake in Sichuan Province, China. The intense rain resulted in a disaster covering communities and roads with a lot of trash, impeding crucial transport routes.

Teams of search and rescue are constantly looking for any survivors and assisting those who have left. Later on, cameras catch the terrible scene: collapsed buildings, halted roadways, and desperate attempts to clear the rubble. Due to continuous heavy rain that can cause issues, officials are advising residents of areas prone to landslides to remain vigilant.

Given Sichuan’s mountainous terrain, floods—especially those related to rain—are likely. Deforestation and climate change are causing the increasing frequency of catastrophes, which calls for questions regarding the future safety of the area.
