Humanitarian Shelter: Manipur Responds to Myanmar’s Crisis

180 Anals and 50 Tangkhuls are among the 230 Myanmarese Nagas who left to India at Thangbu Meenou village in Tengnoupal district, Manipur, amid the rising violence in Myanmar.

In response to increased attacks on the People’s Defence Force, the Myanmar military junta issued a new wave, advising Naga populations to seek safer shelter.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh met with Manipur Water Resources Minister Awangbow Newmai and four Naga politicians. Singh confirmed that protection had been given on humanitarian grounds because of the current situation in the neighboring country.
