A period of light rain and snowfall has started in Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur. On Tuesday, the entire state including the capital remained cloudy since morning. The effect of western disturbance can be seen more on the midnight of February 4. The weather will become clear from the afternoon of February 5. Director of Meteorological Center Shimla Kuldeep Srivastava said that western disturbance has become active in entire North India from 4th February. Its effect will also be seen in Himachal Pradesh. The main effect of the western disturbance will be seen on the midnight of 4th February and it will remain till the afternoon of 5th February. There is a possibility of light snowfall in the high altitude areas of Lahaul Spiti, Kinnaur Chamba and Kangra. Light rain may occur in the rest of the central and plain areas.
At the same time, thunderstorms can also occur in some areas. Only 13.5 mm of rain has been recorded in the month of January, which is much less than normal. Usually 83.5 mm of rain occurs in the month of January. This year there has been 84% less rainfall in the month of January, which is the ninth time since 1901 that there has been less rainfall. This is the effect of the weakening of the western disturbance. A drop in temperature will be recorded in the coming two days, after which the temperatures will rise again.
