The fine was levied on the PWD officer from Mandal Taunidevi during the quarterly meeting of the Panchayat Samiti, as announced by Harish Sharma, the chairman of the Samiti, on Tuesday. This action was taken as part of an effort to hold officials accountable for their absence from important meetings, reinforcing the need for active participation in the region’s local governance.

The Panchayat Samiti Hamirpur held its quarterly meeting on Monday, which was presided over by Chairman Harish Sharma.

During the meeting, discussions were held on the budget allocated by the 15th Finance Commission, as well as the formulation of a new plan for upcoming development projects. In addition to the block committee members, the session saw the participation of BDC Vice President Sanjeev Sharma and BDO Himanshi Sharma from Hamirpur.

BDC Chairman Harish Sharma highlighted that despite multiple reminders, the officials from the Public Works Department of Tauni Devi Mandal had failed to attend the meetings, which was hindering the progress of departmental development projects. After consulting with all members, a unanimous decision was made to impose a fine of Rs 5 on the concerned officials.

However, Devraj, the Executive Engineer of the PWD Mandal, stated that he was not informed about the meeting and was unaware of its occurrence.
