Politics heated up in Himachal Pradesh over the issue of contractors' payments - Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur said - Contractors' liabilities worth crores are pending
Shimla, Sourabh Jaiswal:
Bureau Report, Diary Times Shimla – The issue of ‘economic crisis’ in Himachal Pradesh has once again become the center of politics. This time the economic crisis seems to be affecting the development works and the opposition is attacking the government over this. The situation has come to such a pass that the pending payments to the contractors in the development works are not being made and for this the opposition has started cornering the government.
The allegation is that the payments of the contractors have been pending for the last two years and the government is not paying any attention to it. According to the opposition, the figure of pending payments of the contractors is going to cross one thousand crores.
Jairam Thakur has alleged that the figure of liabilities in the Jal Shakti Department alone has reached five hundred crores. However, the Public Works Minister has rejected all these allegations and claimed that the payments will be made in a phased manner.

Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur accused the government that the situation of the state has become worrisome in the last two years of the state government’s tenure and development work has come to a complete standstill. The same Public Works Minister According to Vikramaditya Singh, a high power committee meeting was recently held regarding the liabilities of the contractors, after which the Chief Minister has released Rs 80 crore to the Public Works Department.
He said that due to the economic crisis, the payment of contractors was stopped for some time, but the full payment is being made in a phased manner.
So in this whole matter, rhetoric is intensifying from both sides and while the opposition is seen on the political front foot, the government is also seen attacking the opposition.
