Solan, (Himachal Pradesh) [India], January 13 (Diary Times): In a significant move towards commercializing university-developed technologies, Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (UHF), Nauni, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Barita Agribusiness Pvt Ltd, based in Una. This partnership will facilitate the transfer of innovative technology for producing a Carbonated Spiced Apple Ready-to-Serve (RTS) drink.

Developed by UHF’s Department of Food Science and Technology, this innovative process utilizes surplus and culled apples to create a high-value, healthier drink option. The carbonated beverage preserves all the nutritional benefits of fresh apple juice, offering a unique blend of taste, nutrition, and health benefits, without any preservatives.

The partnership will offer a new product for consumers while also benefiting apple farmers by providing a profitable way to use apples that might otherwise go to waste. This initiative is a win for both the environment and the economy.
