Bilaspur, January 7: The special detection team of the district police has achieved a great success under the special campaign being run against drugs.

The police seized 2 kg 22 grams charas from a car during blockade near Baloh toll plaza on Kiratpur-Nerchowk fourlane.

The police had established a blockade at Baloh toll plaza to conduct vehicle checks. The car number (HP01K 8932) was intercepted and checked on the grounds of suspicion. During the search, from a polythene bag placed in the car, 2.22 kg charas was recovered. During sustained interrogation, the accused was identified as Om Prakash resident of Syah, Tehsil Bhuntar District Kullu. A case was registered against the accused under NDPS Act and investigation had been started by the police.

“It’s part of our strong action against drug smuggling,” said Additional SP Shiv Chaudhary, confirming the case.

The accused are being interrogated and more revelations are likely to come out in the case, he added. This police action will now give a boost to the campaign against drug smugglers.
