CM Sukhu also highlighted the financial challenges his government inherited, stating that it had to take a loan of Rs 28,000 crore to cover liabilities left by the previous BJP government. Of this amount, Rs 10,000 crore went towards interest and Rs 8,000 crore towards principal repayment. He pointed out that despite receiving Rs 350,000 crore in GST cess until 2022, the previous government made no significant efforts to improve the state’s financial situation.

The Chief Minister emphasized that every government must work in the best interest of Himachal Pradesh to ensure its self-reliance. He further shared that his government aims to make Himachal self-reliant by 2032 and is actively working towards this goal.
