Efforts Underway to Restore Traffic Amid Ongoing Challenges

Shimla, December 28: The snowfall in Upper Shimla has severely disrupted the region’s connectivity with the capital. On Saturday, 156 bus routes linking areas such as Rohru, Rampur, Chaupal, Jubbal, and Narkanda remained closed, halting public transportation across these areas. In addition to Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) buses, private buses were also unable to operate, causing widespread inconvenience.

HRTC had deployed four buses on a trial basis for the Narkanda and Kharapathar routes on Saturday morning. However, these buses got stuck midway due to slippery road conditions. As a result, the authorities have temporarily suspended bus services to Upper Shimla, including night routes, and the traffic system in the area is expected to remain halted through Sunday morning as well.

The district administration, alongside the Public Works Department, has been working since Saturday morning to restore the roads. However, the icy conditions have made it impossible for vehicles to move on many routes. Although Shimla city received intermittent rain throughout the day, the traffic system in the city remains functional.

Several key routes, including those to Khamadi, Kumarsain, Kotadhar, Chail, Bhati, and others, were also closed, and the Shimla-Kunihar road was blocked near Gowahi. The situation has posed a significant challenge for both local commuters and travelers, with efforts focused on clearing the roads and ensuring safety.

As the Shimla Police Personnels continue their efforts, there is hope that traffic will be restored soon, but residents and travelers are advised to remain cautious due to the ongoing weather conditions.

Buses did not go on these routes from Shimla

According to HRTC, buses have not been sent from Shimla to Khamadi, Kumarsain, Kotadhar, Chail, Bhati, Sarahar, Bhali, Kakradhar, Pujarli, Mogra, Ruslah, Bithal, Chewri, Delath, Reog, Bargal, Mogra Two, Giripul, Regtu, Seri, Broad routes. Shimla-Kunihar road also remained blocked near Gowahi.
