Lahaul-Spiti Police Successfully Rescue 800 Stranded People Amid Heavy Snowfall
Coordinated Rescue Effort Ensures Safety of Tourists and Locals
In a remarkable display of efficiency and teamwork, the Lahaul-Spiti police successfully rescued around 800 people stranded due to heavy snowfall on Sunday night. Over 400 tourist vehicles were also safely evacuated from the snow-covered roads. Superintendent of Police (SP) Mayank Chaudhary credited the swift operation to the collaborative efforts of multiple teams, including Keylong police station, Police Lines Keylong, Traffic Police Post Sarchu, and Police Post Kokser. Local volunteers also played a crucial role in ensuring the safety of those trapped in the snow.
SP Chaudhary expressed his appreciation for the rescuers, stating, “Our team’s prompt and efficient action ensured the safety of all stranded individuals. I commend the rescuers for their dedication and commitment.”
Heightened Vigilance and Safety Measures in the Region
Following the unexpected snowfall, the district police have increased their patrols across Lahaul-Spiti to ensure the safety of both locals and tourists in the region. Authorities have issued safety advisories, urging tourists to follow guidelines carefully and seek assistance from the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) or the local police in case of emergencies.
