Delhi Capitals Women’s team will open their Campaign in the inaugural Women’s Premier League against the Royal Challengers Bangalore team at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on March 5. Delhi Capitals will play their matches at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai for their next 4 matches before returning to Brabourne to face Gujarat Giants on March 16.

The franchise bagged batter Jemimah Rodrigues ( ₹2.2 crores) and all-rounder Radha Yadav ( 40 lakh Rupee ) and Shikha Pandey ( ₹60 lakhs) along with under 19 T20 world cup winners Shefali Verma (2 crores) and Titas Sadhu (25 lakhs). Delhi Capitals also picked up Australia Women’s team Captain Meg Lanning (₹ 1.1 crores) and South African all-rounder Marizanne Kapp (₹1.5 crores).

Delhi Capitals Chairman and Co-owner Parth Jindal expressed that he is very happy and excited with the makeup of the Delhi Capitals squad for the inaugural edition of 2023 WPL. The players which we want in our squad. We have them in our squad. We have a blend of young, talented and experienced players in our squad. I am very excited about the Indian players that we have managed to pick in this auction, they will be very useful for the team. And, also excited to get the most renowned foreign players into this squad,” he said in an interview.

He further added, ‘At Delhi Capitals we believe in backing youngsters and having a good combination of experienced players with young players. I think we were able to do that in the auction today. Overall, I am very happy and excited about the squad we have picked in this auction.

Royal Challenger Bangalore will be beginning their campaign on 5th March against Delhi Capitals at the Brabourne Stadium in the afternoon game.

RCB are scheduled to play two-afternoon matches and 6 evening matches. The women in Red and Gold will be playing 5 of their matches in the league at the Brabourne Stadium and 3 matches at the DY Patil Stadium.

With a team of full superstars that features the historic first and the most expensive buy in the league, Smriti Mandhana, RCB will be hoping for a strong showing in the inaugural edition of the WPL.
