Major Drug Smuggling Operation Foiled in Bilaspur: 960 Grams of Hashish Seized

Bilaspur, 03 December – In a significant crackdown on drug smuggling, the Special Detection Team of Bilaspur has successfully thwarted a major hashish trafficking operation. Acting on a tip-off, the team set up a check post near the Tihra tunnel in Sannoti on the four-lane highway. During a routine vehicle inspection, they intercepted a taxi and recovered a substantial quantity of hashish weighing 960.29 grams. This marks a major victory in the district’s ongoing battle against illegal drug trade.

A Breakthrough in Bilaspur’s Drug Enforcement

The Special Detection Team’s operation came to fruition when they stopped and searched a taxi traveling through the region. The vehicle was being driven by 31-year-old Dharam Chand, a resident of Sanglawah village in Mandi district. Upon searching, the authorities found the illicit narcotic hidden in the vehicle.

Dharam Chand, who is now in police custody, was arrested on the spot. The authorities suspect that the hashish was being transported for distribution, and further interrogations are ongoing to track the origin and intended destination of the narcotics.

Uncovering the Smuggling Network

The police believe that this seizure could be a crucial breakthrough in uncovering a larger drug trafficking network operating in the region. Investigators are now focused on tracing the source of the hashish and determining where it was being transported. The authorities are also looking into any connections the arrested individual may have with larger drug rings operating within the state.

DSP Madan Dhiman, who confirmed the operation’s success, assured the public that the police would continue their efforts to clamp down on drug trafficking and hold criminals accountable. “Legal action is underway against the accused, and we are investigating all leads to dismantle any smuggling operations in the area,” he said.
