Shimla-Parwanoo Ropeway Project Worth ₹6,800 Crore Set to Become India’s Longest and Most Successful

Kumud Sharma, Diary Times: The 38 km long ropeway project being built to facilitate travel from Hillsqueen Shimla to Parwanoo town of Solan district will not only increase tourism in Shimla but will also give Shimla a different look. This major project of the country worth Rs 6,800 crore connecting Parwanoo and Shimla is going to become the longest ropeway in India till date, which will reduce the difficulties of tourists entering the state and people of local communities and will establish a new dimension of development.
To make the Parwanoo-Shimla ropeway project successful, the survey has got 100 percent success along with the marking of land by the Ropeway and Rapid Transport System Development Corporation (RRTSDC). Also, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is busy in successfully completing the detailed project report (DPR) for the Parwanoo-Shimla ropeway project with an amount of 2.5 crores. The entire ropeway project is to be developed by following the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model and eight stations will be constructed under this project, which mainly include Jabli, Dagshai, Barog, Solan and Tara Devi Temple.
According to Ajay Sharma, the current director of Ropeway and Rapid Transport System Development Corporation (RRTSDC), “Along with marking the land, the survey has been 100 percent successful and the DPR is being prepared by TCS.” Sharma further said that the construction of the ropeway will not only ease travel but will also lead to a boom in business and investment.
The travel capacity of the ropeway project has been estimated to be 10,000 passengers per day and the ropeway is to be constructed primarily at eight stations. On completion of the ropeway project, the state will have a distinct identity in the tourism sector and the growing traffic congestion will also become more convenient and the activities in the capital Shimla from different areas will increase.

With the completion of the ropeway project, the tourism sector of the capital Shimla is going to make a different identity in the world and the journey to Shimla will now become easier. Apart from this, the arrival of foreign tourists in the state will boost the local business and the residents will also have high hopes. The entire project is going to be completed in eight phases, due to which this project is going to take time to stand up but with the opening of the ropeway project, the local business will get global recognition and the name of the state will earn headlines on a different platform because this is going to be the second largest ropeway project in the world after Russia.
Parwanoo-Shimla ropeway project, which is an important central project of the state, on its completion, Shimla will get tourists even in the cold and snowfall, along with this, the tourism of Himachal Pradesh which is eager to make a mark in the world, will now be able to become a reality.
