Bilaspur, November 15: A new era of tourism is going to begin in Gobind Sagar Lake of Bilaspur district. There is a plan to promote island tourism here on the lines of Andaman-Nicobar Islands.

Under this scheme, Deputy Commissioner Bilaspur, Abid Hussain Sadiq and SDM Sadar, Abhishek Garg inspected the Jyoripatan area of the lake, where a large island will be developed as an attractive place for tourists.

The Deputy Commissioner said that despite being located in water, this island remains above water for 8-9 months, which makes it an ideal place for tourists.

Given the natural beauty of the lake and the uniqueness of this island, this area has been found suitable for the development of tourism. This project aims to establish Bilaspur as a major tourist center.

Under this project, water sports, camping and activities related to local culture will be organized in Gobind Sagar Lake.

Tourists will have the opportunity to walk on nature trails and hiking routes around the lake, allowing them to experience the natural beauty of the area.

Along with this, camping can also be enjoyed with eco-friendly camping sites, bonfires, and local music.

Food and cultural festivals will be organized to promote local culture, in which traditional dances, music and dramas will be presented.

Fishing facilities will also be made available in some parts of the lake.

Apart from this, the island will be developed as an ideal place for pre-wedding shoots and special lunch-dinner parties.

The local economy will also benefit from this project.

With tourists spending more days in Bilaspur, there will be development in hotels, restaurants and other tourism related services, creation of new employment opportunities such as tour guides, camping facility providers and local craftsmen.

The Deputy Commissioner said that this scheme will not only increase tourism in Bilaspur, but this area will give a new identity to the culture and natural beauty of Himachal.
