BERLIN: Germany will close all Iranian consulates in Germany but will allow the embassy to remain open over the killing of a German-Iranian citizen, the foreign ministry said on Thursday.
The killing of German-Iranian citizen Jamshid Sharmahd has put “extreme” pressure on relations between Berlin and Tehran, a ministry spokesman said on Wednesday.
Germany has already recalled its ambassador to Iran over the killing of Sharmahd and summoned the Iranian charge d’affaires to express Berlin’s protest.
