The first electric Royal Enfield motorcycle will make its global debut on October 4, 2024 and as is the case with most upcoming motorcycles from the brand, this one too has been spied in Barcelona without any show-off. Now, the model that has been clicked is almost production-ready. The first thing you notice is that the EV gets a retro-design, with Royal Enfield sticking to its specialty. You see the round LED headlight along with girder forks at the front, a device that has not been used on two-wheelers for quite some time now.
Interestingly, the overall design and appearance of the RE electric bike is smaller unlike their petrol-powered motorcycles. The thin tyres on the bike confirm this. This can only mean that RE wants this motorcycle to be an urban modern classic electric motorcycle with a good range to compete with the current crop of electric two-wheelers in the market. The seat height seems low, and the rider’s triangle seems comfortable and suitable for daily commuting.
Other details that can be seen are round mirrors and footpegs for the pillion, which means there will be an optional pillion, as this particular model misses it out. Then you also see the round display, which could be similar to the one seen on the Himalayan and Guerilla 450.
We expect the EV from Royal Enfield to have a fixed battery with a range of 100-150 km. The motorcycle is expected to have good power and torque output. There are also some electric motorcycles available for sale in India such as Revolt RV 400, Matter Era 5000, Oben Roar, Ola Roadster, Rapti T30, Torque Kratos etc.
