Shimla, 20 October: Like every year, this time also hundreds of couples reached the historic Ridge ground of Shimla on Sunday to see the moon on the occasion of Karva Chauth. They broke their fast of Karva Chauth with the sighting of the moon at 8 o’clock. During this, tight security arrangements were also made. From 6 o’clock in the evening, women started arriving at the Ridge ground, all dressed up, to see the moon.

In Shimla city, the moon is first seen at the Ridge ground, so women from around the city reach the Ridge ground to break their fast.

Suhagins said that today is a special day for them and for centuries women have been fasting for the long life and health of their husbands. After seeing the moon, the husband and wife are made to break their fast by giving them water to drink.
