Atomic bomb survivors, 2024 Nobel Peace Prize winners warn of threat of nuclear war
In awarding the survivors, the Nobel Prize committee highlighted the decades-long work of the Japanese group to free the world of nuclear weapons.
TOKYO: The leaders of the group of atomic bomb survivors awarded this year’s Nobel Peace Prize on Saturday stressed the ever-present threat from nuclear weapons and reiterated their call to eliminate nuclear weapons.
“There is currently a threat of nuclear war… We must eliminate that risk,” Terumi Tanaka, co-head of the Nihon Hidankyo group, said at a press conference, without specifying any country.
In awarding the survivors, the Nobel Prize committee highlighted the decades-long work of the Japanese group to free the world of nuclear weapons.
