SJVN inaugurates Biodiversity Park in Shimla under Swachhata Hi Sewa Abhiyan 2024

Shimla: Taking a significant step towards promoting environmental awareness and cleanliness, SJVN Director (Personnel) and Chairman SJVN Foundation Ajay Kumar Sharma inaugurated a Biodiversity Park near the Corporate Headquarters in Shimla. The initiative is part of the nationwide Swachhata Hi Sewa Abhiyan 2024 and has been developed with an investment of ₹2.08 crore under SJVN’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.

The newly established Biodiversity Park comprises a children’s park and an open gym, which provide recreational facilities for the community. A notable feature of the park is a 1.3 kW model of a turbine from a hydropower station, aimed at educating visitors about renewable energy. Adjacent to the park, a wall painting on the theme ‘Swabhaav Swachhata, Sanskar Swachhata’ has been created to spread the message of cleanliness and environmental consciousness.

Apart from the park inauguration, SJVN organized an awareness-cum-felicitation program to felicitate 84 Safai Karmacharis of Shimla Municipal Corporation and Corporate Office of SJVN. These employees have played a vital role in maintaining cleanliness in areas like Malayana Nallah and Dhobi Ghat Nallah. During the program, Ajay Kumar Sharma presented mementoes to Safai Karmacharis, recognizing their valuable contribution in cleaning Shimla.

Additionally, Dr. Kriti Sharma, Medical Officer at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital conducted an informative session on personal hygiene, community hygiene and preventive measures for tuberculosis and HIV.
