Ragging reported at private university: Junior student beaten up, case registered
A case of ragging has come to light at a private university in Wankaghat area of Solan district in Himachal Pradesh. A junior student has lodged a complaint that he was beaten up by some senior students, following which the police have registered a case.
Solan, September 10: A case of ragging has come to light at a private university in Wankaghat area of Solan district in Himachal Pradesh. A junior student has lodged a complaint that he was beaten up by some senior students, following which the police have registered a case.
According to the complaint, the first year student was upset with several final year students for several days. The matter worsened two days ago when the senior students allegedly took the student to a room and beat him up. The victim, who was injured during the assault, reported the incident to the Kandaghat police station, following which an investigation was started.
The university’s anti-ragging committee called a meeting on Monday to discuss the issue, but the accused senior students did not attend it. Meanwhile, the police have started an investigation based on the student’s complaint.
Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh confirmed the case and said: “A complaint has been received regarding ragging, and the police are investigating the matter. The accused students will be questioned to bring out the whole truth behind the incident.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of students and adherence to anti-ragging protocols in educational institutions.
