Nahan, August 19: A sensational incident has come to light on the eve of Rakshabandhan in Paonta Sahib, Himachal Pradesh. A husband beat his wife so brutally with a stick that the woman died. Last night at around 1 am, a person named Arun Sharma informed the Paonta Sahib police station by phone that a person named Sohan, living in Shiva Colony, Taruwala, has beaten his wife Raksha Devi, due to which she fainted.

She was taken to the hospital by 108 ambulance service, where doctors declared her dead. Based on the statement of the deceased woman’s daughter Neha (21), the police have registered a case of murder under section 103 (1) of the BNS. The police have deployed guards to protect the scene so that the forensic team can also inspect the scene. The body has been inspected and kept in the mortuary.

On the other hand, after the incident came to light, the police started searching for the accused in different directions. At around 5:30 in the morning, the accused Sohan was taken into custody from Bangran Chowk. At present, his interrogation is going on and the investigation is going on under the leadership of the police in-charge.

The post-mortem of the body will be done on Monday, the woman’s maternal family was also informed. Additional Superintendent of Police Yogesh Rolta has confirmed. Meanwhile, Assistant Superintendent of Police of Paonta Sahib Aditi Singh said that the accused has been taken into custody. Also told that the death seems to be due to beating with a stick.
