AFFECT ON THE GROWTH OF A CHILD

Intake of alcohol causes many problems, in the growth and development of the child.

• Alcohol causes physical deformities or malformation in the child by killing the cells in the fetus. 
• Alcohol also slows down the functioning of nerve cell development in the fetus.
• Alcohol causes a lack of nutrition in the child as it interferes with blood vessels and slows down the transfer of blood (food) through the placenta.
• Many toxic by-products are formed, by the intake of alcohol which causes harm to the newborn

SYMPTOMS

Many symptoms indicate Alcohol Fetal Syndrome in the newborn child, but it is not easy to diagnose this disease. Some of these symptoms are as follows.

• Intellectual Disabilities.
• Problem performing daily functions.

• Cognitive disabilities.

PHYSICAL DEFECTS

Some physical defects that occur as a result of Alcohol Fetal Syndrome are as follows

• Malformation of joints, limbs, and fingers.

• Audio problems
• Exceptionally small head and brain size
• Heart and kidney problems 

CNS DEFECTS

Alcohol Fetal Syndrome causes many problems in Central Nervous System (CNS). Some of these problems are as follows.

• Poor coordination 
• Trouble in processing information.
• Poor judgment problems.
• Difficulty in problem-solving and reasoning. 
• Memory problems.

CONCLUSION

Alcohol Fetal Syndrome is non-reversible; thus, no intake of alcohol should be done by the mother during pregnancy time. Mothers with an alcohol history should consult doctors about it. For the baby to be good and healthy, no alcohol should be taken.
