Shimla: Chitta smuggling gang busted in Theog, two arrested
Police has busted a Chitta smuggling gang in Theog subdivision of Upper Shimla. Police has arrested two members of the gang. One of the arrested accused is a resident of Kotkhai and the other is a resident of Theog.
Shimla, July 27: Police has busted a Chitta smuggling gang in Theog subdivision of Upper Shimla. Police has arrested two members of the gang. One of the arrested accused is a resident of Kotkhai and the other is a resident of Theog. They used to supply Chitta in Upper Shimla. Police achieved this success on the information given by the accused arrested in February this year with a consignment of Chitta.
Both the accused have been identified as 28-year-old Rakshit Chauhan son of Mohan Lal resident of Premnagar Kotkhai and 34-year-old Bikram son of Kanhaiya Lal resident of Chhaila Theog. The Theog police has so far arrested 10 smugglers in this case. Most of the smugglers are residents of Kotkhai-Chhaila area. Confirming this, DSP Siddharth Sharma of Theog said that both the accused will be produced in the court for remand.
Let us tell you that on February 14, the police caught a youth named Parikshit from Kotkhai with 12 grams of chitta on Theog bypass. After which the accused was taken on police remand. After this, the police identified six accused involved in smuggling in this case and monitored their activities. When their involvement in chitta was revealed, the police arrested them on April 6.
