Himanshi Thakur, daughter of Dabhur village of Bajga Panchayat of Pachhad subdivision of Sirmour district of Himachal Pradesh, has brought laurels to the district by clearing the national level short service commission examination in the first attempt and getting selected as Nursing Lieutenant in the Army.

Nahan, July 26: Himanshi Thakur, daughter of Dabhur village of Bajga Panchayat of Pachhad subdivision of Sirmour district of Himachal Pradesh, has brought laurels to the district by clearing the national level short service commission examination in the first attempt and getting selected as Nursing Lieutenant in the Army. Himanshi’s All India Rank was 143 (AIR 143) and her first posting is at Military Commanding Hospital Pune Kirkee in Pune, Maharashtra, where she will join on August 5.

Himanshi Thakur comes from a teacher family. Her father Rajendra Thakur is a teacher in a government school and her mother Urmila Thakur is also a teacher. Himanshi’s grandfather Padam Swaroop Singh has also retired from the post of teacher. Himanshi’s brother and his wife are also working in the field of education.

Himanshi received her primary education from DAV School Sarahan and completed her 12th from Career Academy Senior Secondary School Nahan. After this, she did B.Sc Nursing from Murari Lal Memorial College of Nursing Solan. Himanshi told that she was very impressed by her teacher of nursing college, when she was a first year student, that teacher was selected for Nursing Lieutenant. That very day she decided that one day she will become a Nursing Lieutenant in the Army. For this, she also took coaching in Chandigarh for one year and then prepared at home.

Himanshi gave the credit of her success to her parents, family members and teachers and said that all of them played an important role in achieving this position. There is a wave of happiness in the entire district including Dabhur village due to the selection of Himanshi Thakur.
