Himachali son who returned to duty after completing his leave two months ago drank the cup of martyrdom in Srinagar

Una, 25 July: 26 July is celebrated as Kargil Vijay Diwas. Incidentally, Himachal’s son got martyred just a day before Kargil Diwas. 28-year-old Dilwar Khan, belonging to Gharwasra of Kutlehar assembly constituency of Una, sacrificed his life by drinking the cup of martyrdom during an encounter with terrorists in Srinagar. The family kept getting the information about Dilwar Khan’s martyrdom throughout the day that he was shot during this encounter. But as soon as the family came to know about his martyrdom late on Wednesday night, a mountain of sorrows fell on them and Dilwar Khan’s wife Jamilo Bibi is crying badly.

On the other hand, Dilwar Khan’s mother Polan Bibi and father Karmadin are shocked to hear about his martyrdom. Dilwar Khan had gone on leave two months ago. Dilwar Khan was the youngest son of his parents. Dilwar Khan’s elder brother Vijay Mohammad also works as a daily wage labourer and Dilwar Khan’s parents were also earning their livelihood by working as daily wage labourers. The family may have got some relief from poverty after Dilwar Khan joined the army, but perhaps nature had something else in store.

Everyone is shocked after hearing the news of such a mountain of sorrows falling on the happy family. Dilwar Khan has a 5-year-old son Junaiz, who was playing in his father’s lap 2 months ago with a dream of coming back again. Dilwar Khan was martyred in an encounter with terrorists in Srinagar in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Dilwar Khan’s last rites will be performed with full state honours under the supervision of the district administration and in the presence of the Sainik Welfare Department.
