Himachal News: Four Nepali smugglers arrested with 5 kg opium in Shimla and Theog

Shimla, July 04: Shimla police has arrested four Nepali smugglers in Shimla city and Theog area. About five kg opium has been recovered from their possession. A case has been registered against all four accused under the NDPS Act.

Shimla Police will present all four accused in the court and take them on remand. Shimla Police is trying to find out from where the accused brought this opium. It is also being investigated whether opium is being brought from Nepal to Himachal Pradesh. Shimla Police has caught these smugglers during patrolling and blockade late last night on Wednesday.

In the first case, the Special Cell of Shimla Police stopped a bus number (HP 36D-1830) coming from Solan to Shimla at Taradevi-Tutu bifurcation under Boileauganj Police Station for inspection. During this, 3 kg 890 grams of opium was recovered from the possession of Motilal and Jeet Bahadur (Nepali) who were travelling in the bus. The police officer investigating the entire case said that action is being taken by registering a case against both the accused under the NDPS Act.

The second case is from Matiyana town of Theog police station area, where during a blockade on National Highway-5, Shimla police stopped a car number (HP 95-3535) for search and 1.516 kg of opium was recovered from a bag kept in the car. Shimla police has arrested two persons travelling in the car. The accused have been identified as Tilak Bohra and Sudhir Buddha, residents of Nepal. Both of them work in an apple orchard in Narkanda of Kumarsen in Shimla district. Theog police has registered a case against them.

DSP Theog Siddharth Sharma, confirming both the cases, said that all the accused will be produced in the court and taken on remand.
