Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Shimla, May 29Just two days before the voting for the Lok Sabha elections and assembly by-elections to be held on Saturday, June 1 in Himachal Pradesh, a case has been registered against a woman for spreading false rumours by posting wrong and objectionable posts on the social media site Facebook.

Shimla Police has registered a case against the woman at Sadar Police Station, Shimla on the complaint of the Congress Legal Cell.

Naresh Varga and Ajay Thakur, coordinators of the legal and human rights department of Himachal Pradesh Congress, in a complaint submitted to the Shimla Police, said that a woman named Neelam has posted a wrong and objectionable post on her Facebook account.

The complainant said that the woman named Neelam knew very well that posting such misleading and objectionable posts is not appropriate during the model code of conduct and this post is supporting the rival parties.

The complainant also said that the woman named Neelam has given wrong information by posting with the intention of influencing the elections of Himachal Pradesh and this obscene post is deliberately provoking people.

According to the complainants of the Congress Legal Cell, the image of the Congress party is being maligned by the content posted by a woman named Neelam on Facebook.

Shimla’s Sadar Police Station in-charge said that on the basis of the complaint of the Congress Legal Cell case coordinators on Wednesday, a case has been registered against a woman named Neelam under sections 171G, 500, 504, 469 of the IPC and investigation has been started.
