An official said on Sunday that a teacher at a government school in Bihar was teaching children in his class that “no one should vote for Modi”. Now that teacher has been arrested and sent to jail.Muzaffarpur SSP Rakesh Kumar said that after the FIR lodged by the District Education Officer, a case was registered against the teacher for violating the election model code of conduct.DEO Ajay Kumar Singh said that family members of many students of Government Secondary School located in Amarakh, Kurhani block of Muzaffarpur district had complained about the wrong statements being given by teacher Harendra Rajak.
The DEO said, “A written complaint was lodged by the family members that Teacher Harendra Rajak was telling the children that no one should vote for Modi because food grains unfit for human consumption were being distributed under the free ration scheme.”
The DEO said, “Many boys and girls in the class also confirmed that teacher Harendra Rajak was saying such things inside the class.Prima facie this is a violation of the Model Code of Conduct which prohibits any government servant from trying to influence the election result by speaking in favor or against any political party, hence an FIR has been registered against the teacher for necessary action.” -PTI
