Satwiksairaj-Chirag pair created history by winning Thailand Open badminton

The pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty fought hard to defeat the Chinese pair of Chen Bo Yang and Liu Yi to win the men’s doubles title of the Thailand Open Super 500 badminton tournament in Bangkok on Sunday.

The top-seeded Indian pair needed just 45 minutes to win 21-15, 21-15.

For the record, he did not miss a single game during the entire tournament.

 

After the win, Chirag said, “Bangkok has always been special for us; we won our first Super Series title here in 2019 and also the Thomas Cup, so it’s been a special place and it’s great to be here.”

After the Indians took a 5-1 lead, the unseeded Chinese pair put up a tough challenge in the first half of the opening game, resulting in a draw.
